The merits, as an officer let the profeffion to which
his life was devoted appreciate his virtues as a man
let the fociety in which he lived atteft
His remains are depofited in the aifle of this church
furrounded by thofe of feveral of his family
affording a dreadful inftance of the mortality of this
climate
and to the furvivors the melancholy oppor-
tunity of offering this laft tribute of affectionate
respect to his memory
