Sacred
to the memory of the Honourable WILLIAM
BISHOP who for a number of years was a Member of
Council and President of this His Majestys most ancient
and loyal Island and twice Commander in Chief of the same
His eldest son the Honourable HENRY BISHOP, Chief Judge of the
Precinct of Saint Michaels,( which situation he was placed in by his
Parent), erects this marble to him as a small but most sincere token
of his duty and respect. He departed this life in the city of
London on the 21st August in the year of Our Lord one
thouasnd eight hundred and one in the fiftieth year
of his age generally lamented
"Nil desperandum"
