Born 26th November 1804
He joined the Coldstream Guards in 1823
served in the Crimea from 1854 - 1856
Commanded the 1st Brigade of the Light Division
at the Alma (20th Sep 1854) and at Inkerman
(5th Nov 1854) commanded the Light Division
from 6th Nov 1854 till 8th Nov 1855
and commanded the British Army in the Crimea
from 9th Nov 1855 till the end of the war
He was Governor of Gibraltar from 1859 till 1865
and was appointed
Colonel of the Coldstream Guards in 1875
He died on the 6th August 1884
